just a beef
I want to know who in the hell decided area rugs should be so expensive. I've never purchased a big rug before--- we're moving into a new place and the whole thing is hardwood. I would think that a rug like I'm looking for should cost around $80... not. even. close. Not sure what I was thinking, but SHEESH! Rugs and printer ink, I guess.

We Have Renter's Insurance
... which is a good thing. Tonight, someone whose name rhymes with "cat", let a ripe one rip. The stench was so offensive, I yelled for him to run and get the matches, which he did. In the whirlwind of stink and hurry, a lit match came flying onto me and then onto the chair. A childish scream was released (by "cat"). The flame was swiftly and expertly extinguished. The flamer lives on.

Bedtime
For 99% of our marriage, I have been going to bed and getting up before Matt. We have developed a routine where Matt tucks me in. It works well, because no matter how busy the day has been, this guarantees at least a few moments together. (Unless we are fighting, then I just go to bed myself.) And, it's also very helpful when I need a drink of water or forget my phone or something like that...
Awhile ago I emailed Matt (we do that all day long... no texting in the operating room, but emails galore) something to the effect of "I'm exhausted this week, please help me get to bed before 10p." He sent me this back: "I understand. Well, I'll put you to bed but it'll be up to you to stay there."

Handy Man
Matt is camping with his group of boy scout tonight. (I get the bed ALL to myself!)
To contribute to the success of this adventure, I let Matt borrow:
my hatchet
my headlamp
my sweatpants
my pocketknife
other stuff
When I came home today I found a list on our infamous whiteboard of things he needed to pack/wanted to ask me about. On that list read 'handyman'. I also let him borrow my leatherman multitool :)
